i wish weekends were longer ⋆เฑจเงŽ˚⟡˖ ࣪

Monday, August 31, 2026

i think two days is simply not enough.

i know that sounds dramatic because, technically, a weekend is two whole days. 48 hours. that should be plenty of time, right?

except somehow, it isn’t.

by the time friday comes, i’m already looking forward to sleeping. my weekdays are mostly spent glued to my computer, moving from one thing to another, trying to stay focused while my phone keeps finding new ways to distract me. by friday evening, i don’t necessarily want to do anything exciting. i just want to know that i don’t have to wake up early the next morning and immediately be responsible for something.

i want to sleep in.

and sometimes, that’s exactly what i do. i sleep a lot. i scroll a lot. i stay in bed longer than i probably should. i move through saturday very slowly, and for a while, it feels really good.

then at some point, i start thinking about all the things i could have done.

maybe i could have gone somewhere. maybe i could have met a friend. maybe i could have tried that cafรฉ i’ve been wanting to visit. maybe we could have driven somewhere in town just because we don’t usually go there. maybe i could have done something productive at home.

and then sunday comes, and i think, wait. that’s it?

i know i just spent the weekend resting, but somehow i still feel like i need another day to actually enjoy the weekend.

maybe this is the problem: i want my weekends to be restful and eventful at the same time.

i want to sleep until i feel human again, but i also want to go somewhere. i want to stay home, but i also want to see people i love. i want to save money, but i also want to eat somewhere nice and make little memories. i want to do absolutely nothing, but i also don’t want to feel like i wasted my two days doing nothing.

adult life is funny like that.

sometimes i think i miss the version of myself who could just make plans without calculating how tired i’d be afterward, how much it would cost, or whether i’d still have enough energy for monday. these days, even fun requires a little bit of planning around my energy. and money, obviously. lol

it’s crazy how adulthood can turn something as simple as a weekend into a negotiation between your time, energy, money, and that tiny voice in your head asking whether you’re making the most of your life. because i’d love to have more eventful weekends. i’d love to go somewhere new, try new restaurants, spend a whole day with friends or family, take little trips, or book a staycation somewhere by the beach.

i love staycations. love them.

if i had it my way, i’d check into a beach resort every saturday, stay there through sunday, and only go home on monday. i don’t even need a packed itinerary. i’d be perfectly happy swimming, eating, taking pictures, sitting around, talking, napping, and doing nothing in a different location.

there’s something about leaving your usual surroundings, even just for one night, that makes it easier to stop thinking about everything waiting for you at home. you wake up somewhere else. you don’t have to rush. you can have breakfast slowly. swim. nap. talk. take pictures. stare at the sea. do absolutely nothing.

and for a little while, nobody is asking you to be productive. nobody needs you to accomplish anything. you just get to be there.

maybe that’s the kind of rest i’m looking for these days. not necessarily sleep, although God knows i need plenty of that. just a little time where i’m not responsible for anything. a little time where i don’t have to think about the next task, the next deadline, the next workday, or the next thing i need to figure out. a little time to be with the people i love without feeling like i’m already thinking about what comes next.

this weekend, i got to spend some time with former officemates. we talked about work, complained about the same things we’ve been frustrated about, laughed, caught up, and basically reminded each other that apparently, we’re all going through some version of the same thing. it wasn’t anything extraordinary, but i came home feeling like i’d actually spent my weekend.

and maybe that’s what an eventful weekend means to me now.

it doesn’t have to be a trip somewhere far away. it doesn’t have to be expensive. it doesn’t have to be full from morning until night.

sometimes it’s just being around people you love and having nowhere else you need to be. sometimes it’s discovering a little place in your own town. sometimes it’s sitting in a cafรฉ for longer than necessary. sometimes it’s a beach staycation.

and sometimes, honestly, it’s sleeping until noon and scrolling in bed because you spent the entire week staring at a screen and your brain has apparently had enough.

i’m learning that both kinds of weekends count.

the ones where you go somewhere and the ones where you barely leave the house. the ones filled with conversations and the ones where you don’t talk to anyone for hours. the ones where you make memories and the ones where you simply recover enough to face another week.

i just wish there were a little more time for all of it. because two days have to do too much. they have to hold all the things we didn’t have time for during the week. the laundry, the errands, the family time, the friends we haven’t seen, the places we’ve been meaning to visit, the hobbies we’ve neglected, the sleep we’ve been missing, and sometimes, the work that somehow still follows us home.

and somewhere in between all of that, we’re supposed to rest.

no wonder sunday always seems to arrive too quickly.

lately, i’ve been trying not to judge my weekends so much.

if i spent saturday sleeping, maybe i needed the sleep. if i went out and spent time with people i love, maybe that was exactly what i needed too. if i stayed home and did nothing productive, maybe that’s not something i need to apologize for.

i don’t think i’m looking for the perfect weekend anymore. i just want weekends that feel like mine.

sometimes that means a beach, an overnight bag, and a monday i wish would come a little later. sometimes it means good food and long conversations. sometimes it means staying in bed with my phone for an embarrassing number of hours.

and maybe that’s okay.

i’m working most of the week. i’m building things, figuring things out, showing up, trying to keep up. of course i want my weekends to be more than just recovery.

i want to live a little, too.

i just wish i had more than two days to do it.

the life i thought i’d have by 30 ⋆⭒˚。⋆☾

Tuesday, August 25, 2026

when i was younger, 30 felt old. not old old, obviously, but old enough that i was pretty sure i’d have my life figured out by then.

i thought 30 was the age where i’d already have a family of my own. a husband, maybe one or two kids, a house, a car. i’d probably be working in some kind of management position, doing well for myself, and somehow still have the energy to come home in my heels and be a hands-on mom.

i actually pictured myself as a career mom.

the kind who helps her kids study, is strict when she needs to be, but still has a good relationship with them. the kind who is ambitious and independent but still very much present at home.

i didn’t really know what it would take to become that woman. i just knew i wanted to be her.

i also thought 28 was probably the age i’d settle down, which is funny now because i’m 30 and... i’m still figuring things out. lol

one of the strangest things about turning 30 is realizing that i don’t actually feel that different from the girl i was in my 20s. i really thought i’d wake up one day and suddenly feel like a proper adult™. instead, i’m just here. still me. just a little more tired.

there are things about my life right now that younger me definitely would not have expected. for one, i still live with my mom. as the eldest daughter, i always assumed i’d be the first one to leave. i thought i’d be the one who would eventually have her own place, her own household, her own little family.

instead, somehow, the opposite happened. i’m still here. and sometimes i look at my life and think, huh. i really thought i’d be somewhere else by now.

i thought i’d have my own house. maybe even a piece of land. i’d have a car. i’d be comfortable enough that i wouldn’t have to think too hard about money. that was what “successful” looked like to me when i was younger. not necessarily rich. just... comfortable. having your own things. being able to afford the conveniences you want. not having to think twice before buying something you need.

i don’t have those things yet. and if i’m being honest, sometimes it makes me sad. not all the time. not even most of the time. but sometimes.

sometimes i do wonder how different things might look if i weren’t a breadwinner. if a bigger portion of what i earned could have gone toward building my own life instead of helping take care of the family i came from.

i always knew i’d help my family. i’m the eldest, so that part wasn’t exactly a surprise. what i didn’t expect was becoming the sole breadwinner.

i thought that by this age, i’d be more focused on building a family of my own. instead, a big part of my adult life has been about making sure the family i already have is okay.

and i don’t say that with resentment. it’s just... different from what i pictured.

there are things i thought i’d have by now, and there are also things i thought i’d be ready for by now. like motherhood. i genuinely thought 30-year-old me would already know how to be a mom. HAHA. turns out, the idea of being responsible for an actual human being scares me. like, wait. me? someone’s mom? are we sure?????

and now that i’m actually 30, i’m strangely relieved that i don’t have my own family yet, because i still want to enjoy my life. i like being able to decide what i want to do with my time. i like being able to make plans without having to think about another little person. i like that there’s still room for me to figure myself out.

so yep, i feel behind, but i also don’t want to rush. i can be sad that i don’t have the house or the car i thought i’d have by now, while also being grateful that i haven’t had to become the person i imagined i’d be at 30 just yet. i can look at other people and wonder if i’m late, while also knowing that i’m not actually in a hurry to arrive at the life i thought i wanted.

i think both things can be true.

maybe that’s what 30 feels like for me. exhausting. like a never-ending cycle of trying to figure things out. work. money. family. relationships. the future. what i want. what i should be doing. whether i’m doing enough. but also... more aware. i think i’m much more aware now than i was when i was younger. i’ve lived through things i didn’t know were coming. i’ve become capable of things i never really imagined i’d have to be capable of.

i always knew i’d help support my family because i’m the eldest. i just didn’t know i’d become someone capable of supporting a whole family. and maybe that’s something younger me would be proud of.

i don’t know.

sometimes i think about that girl who thought 30 was so far away. she probably would’ve looked at me and asked:

where’s your house?

where are the kids?

where’s the car?

why are you still living with mom?

and honestly, i’d probably have a lot of explaining to do. ๐Ÿ˜‚ but i’d also tell her that we’re okay. not completely figured out. not exactly where we thought we’d be.

but okay.

i’d tell her that we still want a home. we still want a comfortable life. we still have things we’re working toward. and we’re not actually running out of time, because that’s another weird thing about turning 30.

life feels like it’s moving so quickly.

sometimes i think, how am i already 30? but at the same time, i still feel young. i still feel like there’s so much time. and i think that’s the part i keep reminding myself of.

i don’t have to have everything figured out just because i turned 30. i don’t have to suddenly become the woman i imagined when i was younger.

maybe i’ll have the house someday. maybe the car. maybe the kids. maybe life will look completely different from what i imagined anyway.

for now, i’m still here. still figuring things out. still becoming.

and if i could go back and tell my 25-year-old self one thing, i’d probably skip all the profound advice. i’d just grab her by the shoulders and say: save money, please. seriously. you have no idea.
