Who would have thought that we’re now down to our last General Assembly? Whoa! Here are again the cliche lines that go “It seems like yesterday,” and “Time flies so fast.”
It was last September 28 and was held at Capiz Bay. To tell you frankly, it’s not one of the most remarkable General Assembly I’ve ever had, but it’s memorable in a way.
The program didn’t start on time because of some inevitable circumstances, and the service for our sound system came late, but the show must go on, so it did.
Lunchtime was also a bummer for our group. We forgot to prepare rice and we didn’t have eating utensils, but shout out to the SnG peeps who managed to find a way (you know who you are), thank you!
The flow of the program for the whole day wasn’t that smooth. We canceled some activities because of the bad weather, but still, it was a success. I was even planning to roam around the place and take a few photos, but the weather wasn’t cooperative that time, so okay.
SnG was the most victorious that day for our group has bagged almost all of the awards. Siguro ganyan talaga kapag graduating, pinagbibigyan. Lol, just kiddin’. Our group is just really good and participative.

After the event, our group settled to stay a little longer in the place. Some of our mates ordered a few bottles of beer and we had some teasing and shared laughter in between. After they finished their drinks we decided to go home because it was already dark and raining.
To wrap it up, that wasn’t a very fun day, I mean, not as what I expected it would, but it’s still a day worth remembering.
Last September 24, me and my college best friends have spontaneously decided to release some stress and agreed to spend some chill time in Coffee Break. It’s new in our place, so we decided to give it a try. We ordered frappe, talked, laughed, teased each other around, and took photos just like the usual.
I’ve got quite a number of photos in my phone and I badly wanted to post them here for the sake of documenting memories in the blog, but I don’t want to flood my blog with photos without tagging along some texts on it. (Lol. Is it just me or…)
So while thinking what to do with the photos, I realized that I haven’t officially introduced my circle to you yet. I mean, I obviously don’t need to, but I just want to. And prolly this is the high time to do it, so I’m taking the opportunity. I also consorted some of my favorite friendship quotes that I’ve seen around the internet together with the photos.
Evidently, my circle is just composed of four (myself, Lyka, Alaine, and April). I’m not the kind who goes along with anyone, I am one of the introverts in school, and quite honestly, I’m a bit picky with people. I mean, I have to wisely choose the people I hang out with if I don’t want to ruin my life. No, I’m not being rude, but I hope you got my point.
They’re the ones I hang out with most of the time, but for you to know, they weren’t my very first college friends.
I wasn’t this much close to them during our first semester in college. I just went along with them when my closest friend in the first few months had to shift to another program in the following semester.
There were already a couple of groups of friends in our bloc way back, and I don’t know how and why among those, I chose them. Perhaps the saying, “Birds with the same feathers flock together,” is right. Our personalities are quite the same and we kinda share the same interests too.
Here’s Lyka. She’s not that much of the quiet kind. She’s friendly and goes along with anyone easily. She’s the most approachable, I guess, and no doubt why among the three of them, she was the first one I became close with. If I remember it right, our friendship started when we became group mates in English for a group performance (a.k.a. interpretative dance). During our practice, she used to tell me some stories about her ex-boyfriend. I can’t remember how it started, but from then on, I became comfortable with her.
She’s a religious girl and serves in church every Sunday. She’s a chess player and a varsity. She also loves dancing and she has the flattest tummy (haha). She’s body-conscious, too. Her favorite color’s pink and she has the most admirers (lol, that’s the way I see it). She got her heart broken a couple of times by just one guy a.k.a. her only ex-boyfriend, but currently, she already has a special someone who never fails to make her feel special. She hates it when you make her wait for a long time, but she’s a friend who’s always ready to give a hand, and I always love it whenever she shares inspirational Bible verses with us to boost our spirits up.
Here’s Alaine. She’s the youngest. She’s a wanderlust. She loves spontaneous adventures. She also has a thing for fashion. She’s a religious Instagram-er, y'know that kind with “feed goals” to maintain. Her favorite color’s violet. She loves everything with Eiffel tower on it. One of her greatest dreams is visiting Paris. At first glance, she may look snobbish and mean, but really she’s not. Maybe it’s just her aura.
Quite honestly, I really thought we’ll never become close friends. I mean, I thought she’s really snobbish and suplada. I can’t stand girls like that, but I was wrong. We share the same interests. We like almost the same things. We dream almost the same dreams. We always talk about random stuff and it seems like we never run out of things to talk about. She’s curious and observant. And I really should mention this (lol): She’s a moody girl, like I swear. I’m not even kidding. You have to get the right timing or else… (Hahaha)
This girl may look like a sunshine of happiness, but she has gone through a lot. I’ve seen her broke down and recognized how strong she actually is. Just in a span of our college life, too much had already happened in her life. The universe had thrown her big rocks, but I’m glad that she’s still standing still.
Here’s April. She has a contagious smile and an epidemic laughter. She’s the most conservative among us four, and yeah, the most ~mahinhin~. She enjoys watching movies and several TV shows. She’s a no-boyfriend-since-birth fellow. She likes things that are as blue as the sky.
She’s an epitome of simple and she’s a li'l bit, not the showy kind. Behind her bright smiles, I could sense a cryptic world. She’s the kind who doesn’t show so much of her inner self. She keeps her deepest feelings and hides her profound emotions (or at least, that’s how I see it). When you see the beam on her face, you won’t doubt why she’s the group’s happy pill.
…and I forgot to mention, she’s one sleepy girl. She sleeps early and gets the right amount of sleep but you would still catch her snoozing during boring lectures - not to mention that our seats are always on the very front row, yeah.
And here’s me! I am the eldest among us four (by just a few months, okay?) and they often tease me about it. Lol.
So basically, that’s my kind of circle. There’s no tiny bit of regret that I chose them. They’re really the kind of friends that any college kid should have. They know how to have fun and chill, but they also know when to go back hitting the books.
They’re the kind who will influence you to study and do all your assignments even if you don’t feel like doing them, or else you’re the only one who’ll be left in the group who’s not yet doing anything (mapre-pressure ka na lang talaga eh). Lol.
In all honesty, I couldn’t imagine how my life in college would have turned out if I belonged in a circle other than them.
I don't care if this sounds cheesy, but they made my college life a.k.a accountancy life more bearable. ❤

"Life should not only be lived, it should be celebrated."
So it was August 29th when our dear friend, Alaine, turned 19. As I’ve mentioned in my latest life lately post, August was such a demanding month. Everyone was busy and quite honestly, we really didn’t have any decent planned surprise for Alaine’s birthday until the day before it. I’m just so grateful for all those birthday surprise ideas I’ve seen around the internet. Internet is really such a ~life saver~ (only if we know how to use it correctly).
I’ve prepared banners with letters that formed “Happy Birthday, Leng.” Then Lyka and April bought balloons to spice up the surprise and I suggested to put letters inside the balloons then let Alaine pop them up to read those. We also prepared a jar of hugots and named it “Bunot Your Hugot” because those were her own hugots in between our conversations through SMS, Twitter DM, and Messenger (yes, I’ve kept them haha). I took a screenshot of those and printed them, then we pasted it on colored papers, rolled them and put them in a small transparent jar.
Good thing, it was a long weekend and Alaine went home. So we were able to prepare the surprise on their boarding house. The preparation wasn’t smooth and easy because we were in a great cram at that time. We were worried that Alaine might arrive earlier, but good thing she didn’t. Yet still, we weren’t able to finish everything before she arrived. Fortunately, there was a vacant room in their boarding house where we hid and prepared everything. Everything should have been ready before she arrived, well… that was the original plan, but obviously, it failed so we decided to surprise her right after our planned lunch out and whatever plans Alaine had in mind.
Yes, Alaine volunteered herself to treat us for lunch and our supposed-to-be meeting place was in their boarding house. Even though we’re already there before she arrived, we have to pretend that we weren’t yet, and of course, with the changed plan, we have to get everything done before we leave their boarding house still keeping it a secret from her, so we planned that April and I will pretend as if we’ll arrive late and let Lyka and Alaine go to wherever Alaine planned to treat us. But we were afraid that Alaine might sense something if we were both late. So the final plan was, April will go with them, and I’ll set everything up when they leave.
So okay, I did my thing as planned. One thing I’ve learned: it’s pretty difficult to do such thing alone but anyways, I didn’t mind that as long as it’s for the person who’s dear to me (naks!).
After everything was set up, I went after them at Cafe 1927 where we had our lunch.
It was almost noon when I arrived and they were already waiting for the ordered foods.
When the order arrived, we were shocked of the three platters of rice. Lol. It was kinda too much for us.
The foods were good, especially the lechon kawali, but the sisig tasted different from what I expected.
Anyway, we were having fun while eating, because the moment was of course spiced up with stories and laughter.
We stayed quite long in the cafe since we had quite a hard time eating everything up, but we successfully did.
I was too full thereafter that I can hardly move. Lol. Can we now be tagged on those “Tag mo yung kaibigan mong mahinhin pero matakaw?” memes on Facebook? Lol. Just kiddin’.
After our almost two-hour lunch, we walked along the plaza while deciding where to go next.
We settled to have a karaoke sesh at the World of Fun, so we went to Robinsons. Unfortunately, the KTV box had been occupied since we arrived. We waited for like an hour, I guess, but still, the peeps inside them were still enjoying. We played one round of basketball while waiting. Then, Alaine suggested that we’ll go to Gaisano Grand (there’s WOF there, too), and we agreed.
Upon arriving, we again waited for a few minutes before we were finally able to occupy a box. We requested ten songs, then found ourselved enjoying so we added another set of ten.
It was all Alaine’s treat. It was our first time to do such fun thing and also my first time to hear them sing in a microphone! Haha. A thing crossed off my bucket list that day: videoke with these girls. And… I scored 100! Hahaha. Yaaay!
After we got enough, we decided to go to Alaine and Lyka’s boarding house, and April and I managed to make excuses to Alaine why we’re going with them instead of going home straight ahead (we haven’t surprised her yet, remember?).
When we were already there, we allowed Alaine to go first so she would be the one to open the door and successfully, she was surprised by what she saw. She was smiling the whole time, she was happy.
It was such very fulfilling seeing her that happy. She thought we didn’t prepare anything for her. YES!! Mission accomplished!
Such a fun and memorable day and that was definitely one for the books!
I’ve always been the girl who would stress herself out looking for something to wear during the last minute. I might get excited finding for fancy dresses, high-heeled shoes, and stuff that would fit me, but I would always let the ample time pass by before I would make a move. I was always like that. And for you to know, it was freakin’ stressful and wearisome.
But since it’s already 2016 and I’m getting more into adulthood, I guess it’s time for me to be more responsible, so I tried my best to leave that bad habit behind. This time, I made use of the more-than-enough time given to us to look for something to wear for our Fellowship Night. And I’m glad that I did it. I was able to hop from one choice to another before opting to finally decide what to buy without the need to run after the deadline. I had better choices and in fact, I was able to save a lot. For someone like me who doesn’t want to spend a lot of money on shoes and dresses that I will only wear once or twice, ukay-ukay is a life-saver. And yep, you’ve guessed it right. The shoes and dress I wore that night were from the famous ukay-ukay and my mom and I got it for a very good price. Such a steal!
Okay, enough with that. So I thought, I was ready and indeed I was, but life is never smooth and no matter how much you prepared for something, sometimes, it will never go unwrinkled. The universe will, most often, have to let things flow the way it wanted and most of the time, things won’t go the way you wished them to be.
So my mom did contact a taxi for me and my friends so as to avoid the hassle of commuting when we’re all dressed up. The deal was settled and the driver should have picked us up before 6:30PM, but unfortunate circumstances managed to pop up out of nowhere. I don’t know what happened, but the driver didn’t show up. I was already getting late at that time with the fact that I should have arrived at the venue earlier because I was assigned for the registration. I was really pissed off, especially my mom. But people are people and sometimes, we really can’t trust them. So yeah, I rode a tricycle on the way to the venue, together with Roland who’s my classmate and was one of the emcees of the night. And the tricycle driver. Oooohhh. The tricycle driver. He was one of the most dishonest drivers I’ve known. I hate to say this, but I hope his conscience will always bother him and won’t let him sleep unless he’ll really feel sorry about him being terribly dishonest. If you're wondering what happened, well, he charged us with such an expensive fare TWICE! Yep, twice! I mean, Roland already paid him the fare but I didn't notice, and I paid again since the driver asked for it. Great, right?
Anyway, going back, when we arrived, a number of people were already there. I sat for a few minutes in the entrance, together with Trisha and May, to let everyone sign in for registration. It was nearly 8:00PM when the program started. We marched along the red carpet for the entrance and I was with my girls, Alaine and April.
The flow of the program was good but a bit formal. I don’t know if it’s just me, but I guess, there should have been a part where the guys could ask the girls for a dance or pass some anonymous (or not) love notes and have the emcees read it aloud during or after dinner just like the previous Fellowship Nights we had. It should have added some fun that night. But maybe, it’s just that there wasn’t enough time, that’s why there wasn’t any of those. It was like all we did there was just sit down, take pictures, then eat and take pictures again.
After the program, we took a lot of pictures.
Then we went home, but I still waited for a couple of minutes before my mom arrived to pick me up. I was alone (but not literally). I was the last one who left the venue, except our JPIA President and her boyf. I was flooding my mom’s inbox because I was getting too impatient at that time.
And despite some not-so-good circumstances that night, it was still a great night.
All thanks to the man above! And thanks to my mom for being there to support me. Always.
